A SONG OF MY HERO'S LIFE
I knew that I would have you in my life the first time that I saw your lilting smile but never thought to think I'd be your wife till I had seen you toil yet one more mile for anyone who seemed to need your aid You always gave not caring what the cost: mankind, "the cause," my kin, friends/foes. You stayed when most would not have cared and I'd have lost my faithful friend who always by me stood though there were times when grief was all I gave! Your giving up I would have understood You, in wisdom, gentleness instead were brave What force does not let you capitulate but keeps you showering love instead of hate? Marta Esperanza Edgcombe March 3, 1999 For Frank ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ ~~~~~ See separate Spanish version written May 19, 2002 "CANCION A MI HEROE" in section below this one
