My heart beats out in iambs bold and strong.
My feet staccato trochees as I walk. My thoughts compose like lyrics to a song and words pour forth as free verse when I talk. From abstract concepts weighing on my mind, my eyes and ears make concrete metaphors. I hear life's ancient timepiece slowly grind and see my boat approach once distant shores. Sometimes I halt through scansion set askew, but though I seem enslaved, don't pity me. The structure of a stanza keeps me true; the rhyming of a couplet sets me free. When youth bleeds dry and nothing else sustains, pure poetry will still run through these veins.
