Shadows of Regret Speak not to me with gilded tongue and easy flowing lies. Don’t promise me a taste of love or vibrant breath of life. I am the deep and poisoned well from which the darkness draws. No light or laughter echoes through my heart’s abandoned halls. My armored wall he could not pierce, and so he walked away. The dark knight gone forever with the blinding light of day. I sit in shadowed silence, for its comfort I know well. Alone with grief as company, I wait to hear death’s bell. The one for whom it tolls -- sometimes I wish it could be me. I long to break these burning bonds, and from regret be free. Fragile words are left unspoken; my teardrops fall like rain. I don’t need you to save me; in the darkness I’ll remain.
