NEXT YEAR
A sonnet about a forbidden love that is to be proven until next year.

The end of this year seems to come so slow
I just cannot state my feelings for you
So please do not think my answer is ‘no’
For I love you so and you love me too

I want to shout it with all of my strength
Yet rules imprison what we are feeling
Here in our secret place my knees are bent
Wishing that what you feel is not a fling

This year, our love is strictly forbidden
So we have to wait until it is right
For our love to stop being bed ridden
So please, behind temptations, see the light

If you cannot wait until this year ends
I have to treat you as one of my friends
