Johnny shoved the carrot in place, stood back and looked at the snowman. Standing six feet tall, it towered over him, the slanted eyebrows made of sticks gave the snowman an angry expression as it gazed out over the backyard.
“You’re a worthless piece of shit, boy” Johnny growled in a deep voice, punching the snowman in the stomach.
Satisfied the snowman was complete, Johnny walked to the other side of the yard where he’d made a smaller snowman, this one wearing an orange floral dress.
“Do as your father says Johnny, you know he gets angry when he drinks” Johnny said sternly, in his best imitation of his mother.
“Johnny, where’s Mom and Dad?” his sister Carla called out from the back porch.
“Dunno” replied Johnny.
“You’re fucking useless” Carla shot back, slamming the door and walking inside.
Hanging his head at the insult, Johnny noticed that his mothers toe was exposed and moving, trying to break apart the tightly packed snow. Drugs must have worn off. He jabbed her toe with his shovel, resulting in a muffled cry of agony from within the snowman.
Looking around the yard, Johnny scouted for the perfect spot to put his sister.
