SUN’S TRAVAILS
Having travelled all the way From East up to the West, When the daily work is done, Sun needs a bit of rest. Burning sun has to cool down After its global run. Snowcapped mountains give it the Solace its work has won. It lies in the mountain chest As it is dark outside. World is ruled by moon and stars When it’s night far and wide. After a night’s rest, it is Again ready to go. It rises from the mountains In a pace rather slow. After early baby steps, It rises up so high. Scorching are the rays it sends From high up in the sky. By the evening it is tired; Its long course it has run. Then it goes to rest saying: “Once more my day is done”. • Written as per 7-6-7-6 syllabic format and abcb rhyme scheme. • Awarded Honorable Mention prize in the “Inspirations” contest, "Invalid Item" M C Gupta 17 December 2009
