If I wrote a letter
You would be my ink,
And when I dream a daydream
You fill up every though I think.

You help me cry away the tears
With a shirt sleeve in both hands,
You help me watch the hours go by
With the trickling of the sands.

You sit beside me
All I need, and when I don’t-
You’re gone!
But you’re never far, and when I need you
I find you’ve been there all along.

I know you’ll never leave me,
My charming successful friend,
You’re the only one I can truly rely on –
And faithful to the end!

You “keep your head, when all around you,
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you.”
And have learnt to “watch the things you gave your life to, broken”
And have stooped to build 'em up with worn-out tools.

So, for that, thank you,
For always being there.
The one I can always rely on to cheer me up
During my moments of despair.

I’m proud of you,
I don’t say that enough
(And I really know I should).
I should treat you more,
And love you more,
And for you do everything I could.

So I’ve wrote this piece to say thank you,
For the most important thing to thee,
And if you hadn’t guessed yet –
It’s that little piece of me!
