NEW PROMPT: Tomorrow is "Boxing Day." Having lived in the US all my life, I keep hearing about Boxing Day, but it seems that alone in the English-speaking world, the US doesn't observe Boxing Day. I figured it had something to do with Muhammad Ali, but apparently not. When I finally looked it up on Wikipedia, it gave Wikipedia's usual dry descriptions without really telling me what it's all about, like saying "Christmas is a religious holiday that celebrates the birth of Jesus" without going into Santa, tree decorating, shopping, family, etc. So your prompt for Boxing Day is this: Write a story or poem about Boxing Day that captures the essence of the day. CONTINUED CHEER!{/b We could use a Boxing Day here to hang on to holiday cheer! We could locate all we had missed-- relaxing. and time to be kissed! Stopping to consider the poor. A slower pace to show us more of the special things we enjoy, and gifting all whom we employ! A day to nurture peace of mind and good will toward all mankind! A day for buying still more goods; a day for sporting in the woods! A quiet day enjoying peace-- hoping hectic holidays cease! Continued cheer, with which to start a brand-new-year,within our hearts!
