Charlie Brown got Married

Three years ago, long before Archie Andrews announced he was tying the knot, a question was posted on Yahoo regarding Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty, and Marcie. Basically, it was about Charles and who in his circle of friends he would marry. Of course, having Charles get married would mean a drastic change in the whole structure of the Peanuts universe; They would have to be allowed to grow up, for one thing.
There was a lot of votes for the little red headed girl (naturally) and Lucy, Sally, Freida, even Peggy Jean (remember her? She’s the one who broke Chuck’s heart).

For me, the choices were simple, narrowed to either Patricia Reichardt (Peppermint Patty), or her best friend Marcie Johnson.

Part of me wanted, and still wants, to vote for Patty, as she is different in so many ways from Charles, which might enhance their relationship, but I fear the relationship would be doomed, Charles would, at the least, feel threatened by her physical abilities. Or he may wind up living vicariously through her, and become bitter at the thought that she was everything he could not be. Not a healthy relationship.

Marcie would be the better choice. She has the more down to earth supportive personality that would help Chuck through his predicted years of therapy.

So, donning our dimension hopping goggles and slipping slightly to one side into that parallel universe where the Peanuts gang lives and ages naturally, we find Charles has just celebrated his 28th birthday. Chuck and Marci Brown have settled down in a quiet suburban section of Newark, where they are raising their 2 kids, and enjoying the occasional visit from 'Aunt' Patty. Chuck works days as a 'hair stylist' (in his fathers footsteps) at his own shop pretentiously named ‘Salon de Charlie', which is exactly like a barber shop except that the shampoo's all have imported names and a 'cut and set' is 3 times the normal price; and yet strangely enough people line up, just like at Starbucks. In his spare time he helps out at the local boys and girls club, and sometimes lectures at the Areospace Museum and Arborists club.
Marcie has developed a certain talent for helping students with learning disabilities, (years of practical experience growing up) and teaches remedial academics at the local high school. As a hobby she breeds AKC registered pure bread beagle show dogs. (Ironically, Snoopy is not being listed on any of the pedigrees papers.)

Peppermint Patty was scouted by the Little Wingingham Rugby Association in her senior year at school (yes, she made it that far with, Marcie's help ((Which is also why Marcie is so good at her job)), was traded to Liverpool, picked up in her option year by Dartmouth, and currently is signed to a 5 year contract at 300,000 pounds sterling per year. She visits at on average 5 times a year, and she positively spoils little Charles Emerson Brown the 3rd and his little sister, Tiffany.

I do plan, at some point, developing the characters and situation further as a Fan Fic.
