Pieces of Me
Rated: E | Poetry | Contest | #1632869
Recounting one's life.
Pieces of Me

My life has left pieces all strewn and scattered.
I fell in love each time I thought it mattered.
To my disappointment, I went through many divorces.
Each time my life was disabled by outside forces.
Time passed and old wounds healed.
Looking back, my life had reeled.
Back and forth and up and down,
I felt as though I would melt down.
In his wisdom, God gave me one more chance.
HE helped me see there was still romance,
To pursue, if I’d but trust my heart,
Keep looking for that next start.
My values readjusted, I did explore,
I used wisdom, experience, and candor.
I found that one waiting for me.
She was the Creator’s perfect recipe.
Going on fifteen years now, I’ve lived as HE designed.
A fulfilled life, thanks to my mate,
Looking back now, it was a worthwhile wait!
