James came to his senses in a room that reminded him of the interview room at the police station he worked at. Looking round he realised he was alone yet he knew someone or something was watching him. Yet the feeling of being watched did not bother him even though it usually would. The door opened and in walked a tall man with no real distinguishing features. The shadowy image James had recalled in the car came back to him but this time it was the man who was now stood in front of him that handed him the note. 'Where am I? What am I doing here? Who are you?' He asked 'It will all be explained in good time James.' 'How do you know my name?' The man made his way towards the table James was sat at, moved a chair and sat down. 'Did you tell anyone you were coming here?' 'No, I don't even know why I went in my pocket this morning. When I found the address I just knew I had to be here. Not sure why though.' James said. Holding the piece of paper in the air he noticed there was something different about it. Turning it over in his hands he realised it was blank. 'This cannot be right; it had the address written on it this morning. What the hell is going on?' James said wanting to raise his voice the more he spoke, but something inside him seemed to calm him the more he wanted to be angry. 'All will come clear in time.' The other man said in a soft calm tone. 'Let’s see about answering some of your questions. First of all you are in a warehouse on a disused industrial estate. I asked you here because there is something I want you to do for me, and before we go any further you are free to leave at any time.' 'I feel that I should trust you but I don't know why. Under normal circumstances I'd be wary of someone who has lured me to an old disused warehouse, yet I feel uncharacteristically at ease here. What have you done to me?' 'I'll get to that later first I want to talk about an incident that happened around a year ago. A case you were working on at the time. A young woman found dead, with unexplainable wounds on her body.' 'I remember that case, I was taken off it after a day, my senior officer told me it had been handed over to another department, but he would not tell me anymore.' 'He did not tell you anymore because he did not know anymore, all he got was a memo telling him to stop investigating the case, actually it was a piece of paper like the one you have in your hand. It reads what we want it to when we want it to.' 'Now you say we. Who are you?' Like I've already said I'll get to that later. First tell me what you can remember of yesterday.' Part of James' mind told him to say 'none of your business' but instead he told him what he asked for ‘Getting up and going to work as usual. I was called to an incident.' He paused 'Can't remember anything about it and can only just recall your face when you handed me the letter. I could not recall your face before I came to in this room.' 'Good, Good' Part of James' mind said 'What's good about memory loss.' But again he could not say it out loud. Something strange had happened to him and he was sure it had something to do with the incident the day before. But what? he just could not figure out. 'How about I show you around and explain more as we go.' the man said getting up out of his seat. James followed suit without even thinking and the two of them headed out the door into a dingy corridor.
