A Leaf Leaves have left their places from the branches of the tree. A pretty sight, reds and golds, the north winds set them free. They ran their courses faithfully, as ones who heard the call And when the trumpet sounded they all began to fall. They now lay softly on the ground from where they first took hold. To give what they were given so bountiful and bold. We’re all servants to the Master, the one who sets the time; And when the season was complete He took a leaf of mine.
