![]() Those eyes can see through his rank lies. Dark eyes! Does he think she’ll take his rot? Will not! He has her muzzled like a pup. Shut up! It’s clear he’s drained the entire cup of love, judging from her black look. His schtick she can no longer brook. Dark eyes will NOT shut up. Author’s note: The Ovillejo is a captivating ten-line Spanish form introduced by Miguel de Cervantes in his classic novel “Don Quixote.” The first six lines form three rhyming couplets with the first line posing a problem or question and the second line truncated in response. The last four lines summarize the meaning of the previous six lines, with the last line comprised of the three broken lines. Thus, the rhyme scheme becomes aa, bb, cc, cddc.
