I CAN Make a Difference

It's a brand New Year and our country's still at war
Folks are still homeless, and there's poverty galore.
Some just want to blame Obama for everything that is wrong
But we need to bow our head today, I invite you to pray along.

First I thank my heavenly Father for another day of life
And ask Him to guide us all to end this world of strife.
Please God forgive me and remind  all of  the greedy
Inspire every single person to try and  help the needy.
For even though I have food and a  comfy cozy bed
Far too many folks this day  have no place to lay their head.

What can I do today to give another weary soul a lift?
A basket full of food might just be such a special gift.
Or a blanket or jacket given to a homeless man
May just be the lesson that would help make him understand...
That to be an American we must open up our own door
Just showing love and kindness, who could ever ask for more.?

Don't look the other way when someone cries in pain
"But for the grace of God, go I" should be our loud refrain.
Trouble is that most folks wait for someone else to give
When every one who's needy just needs simple things to live.

This oil spill that is gushing,  is a wake up call indeed
And  we will be accountable if we fail to help those who are in need.
We are put on earth to make a difference- it is a well known fact
A question for you now, dear friend, today have you done just one kind act?

It doesn't help to pass the buck, or blame Congress for what is wrong
To say it's someone else's fault - We've been doing that for way too long
So..before the sun sets, do something right, and help out your fellow man
Just one step that you make today, is the Change that will say "I CAN"
