Fear in squirrel's eyes, Reflecting yellow monster Hot upon its tail, Pursuing its prey, Salivating hungrily, Sprinting like the wind. Knowing for certain, That THIS time he will succeed-- Memory? Not great. Gears begin to turn In squirrel's walnut-sized brain, Dashes straight up tree. Claws dig into bark, Forming vertical foothold, Eluding canine. Propelling squirrel Toward safe, leafy haven-- Inaccessible To domestic beasts Living in brick buildings with Strange, hairless bipeds. Yellow lab, downcast Face droops in disappointment. Hey, look! A rabbit!!!
