Earth, once teeming with
Mother Nature's miracles, Slowly dies away. Thriving green forests, Carpeted with earth-brown hues, Wildflower accents. Symphony of sounds-- Creatures chirping, chattering, Wind sings plaintively, Whistling through the trees-- Staccato of bare branches, Falling leaves take flight. River sets rhythm-- Flows steadily, constantly Over stones and logs. Gargantuan hand Appears, wielding gesso brush-- Erases blindly. One stroke to forests, Another to the rivers, Nature sits, docile-- Wanting to fight back, But knowing she's defenseless, Too soon, all is white-- Pristine, sterile, cold, Like MacBook, straight from package, Or the freezer aisle Of supermarkets-- Artificial Arctic scenes, Death packed in boxes. Breaded chicken strips, Cows extruded into discs, Hot Buffalo wings. What's a Buffalo? Most people have forgotten-- MSG malaise.
