The Muse, The Poet, and The Reader
Three poems.

The Muse

I saw her restless,
turning over and over again,
trying to find some peace within.
But how could that be?

I know she’s looking for me
and here I am,
hiding behind her books.

I love to make her cringe,
for I don’t want her to forget me.
I am the one who lets her write
and she should be thankful for that.

But I think I will emerge now,
she’s had enough.
I know she loves me.
So, here I go!

The Poet

It drives me crazy on days
when distance keeps us apart.

I strive to find the right words,
but they elude me so.

There it is, hiding from me,
laughing from its hiding place.

I look all around but it plays its tricks,
making me go, oh so mad.

I lie awake all night,
waiting for it to emerge.

Finally, tired, I fall asleep.
Only to find it came during the night.

And lo, I awake with a start,
pouring out words like never before.

The Reader

I open the book
and read the words.

It doesn’t take time
for me to get lost.

The words are engrossing
and the theme powerful.

They touch my soul
and make me feel.

It is as if my life is there.

How does she know
what I feel inside?

Oh, its me, over there,
shrieking with delight.

Someone knows what I feel.
No matter who it is, out there.

I abandon the solitude, I feel
and grin with joy.

I have found my soul mate.
