Silence
When Silence speaks and the heart hears...

Shivering in the wind,
chilled to the core.
Arms crossed tightly
to gather up some warmth.

Eyes see blurred images.
The one is far off.
Straining to hear his voice,
the breath let out as a sigh.

Looking at the ground beneath,
waiting for it to open up.
Wanting it to take one within
and get rid of the faint evidence.

It doesn’t make sense,
nothing does anymore.
All the years whisk by,
as if just a moment’s worth.

Lips tear apart to make a sound,
a stifle is all that comes across.
A sob follows and ground shifts,
one finds oneself with bruised knees.

It isn’t just knees but the heart too.
The marks unseen yet the pain so new.
Stinging like a snake’s venom,
making it difficult to breathe.

Silence speaks and the heart hears,
the brain is dead, no more breath.
Lights dim, visions arise,
there’s only one in sight.
