The streets were dotted with the last few straglers heading home from a night out as two figures moved through the shadows being carful not to be seen. A siren sounded in the distance, the two figures desolved into the darkness of an allyway. The Police car flew passed and dissapired into the distance, the sound of its siren getting duller and duller. Looking round to make sure it was clear they moved through the shadows again, on towards their destination.

A young woman stepped out of the night club and headed towards the park entrance over the road. It was the quickest way home and even though everyone told here not to she always cut across it to her parents home on the other side.

Watching from the alley next to the night club the two figures waited for the right moment to move. Checking that noone was looking their way they quickly crossed the road and entered the park heading straight for the shadows of the trees that lined the path. They moved faster than the woman getting ahead of her before stopping behind a tree in the middle of the park. When the woman got to them one of the figures pounced grabing her and pulling her into the cover of the trees.

James awoke to his alarm, yawning he looked over at the clock 7:00. Stretching he got out of bed, picked up his work clothes and headed into the bathroom. He emerged a few minutes later looking a little refreshed but still tired, dressed in a suit and tie. Streching again he headed down stairs and into the kitchen for some breakfast, before heading out of the house, jumping in the car and heading for work.

*****

James pulled up in his usual parking space at work, turned off the engine and stepped out in to the dim light of the underground car park. He looked around hoping to see one of his collegues but the place was deserted. He made his way to the lift and into the building.

Walking down the corridor he could see the somber mood of his collegues as they went about the business.
'DC Sanderson'
James looked towards the voice 'Sir'
'Would you come into my office please'
James moved into a room and took a seat when he was jestured to do so.
'Did you here about the incident yesterday?'
'Yes what happened?'
'We're still trying to work that out, we have no CCTV footage of the incident, the cameras stopped working just before it happened.'
'Who was hurt?'
'Sergeant Hall and PC Davis. Their in intessive care in the hospital no one knows whats wrong with them. We need to find the culprit and get him back under lock and key before he kills someone.'
'Knock, Knock' they were interupted by a knock at the door.
'Come in'
The door opened and a young WDC walked in 'Sir the Mayors daughter did not arrive home from a night out last night, Uniform want our help to try and find her. Briefing in 5 minutes'
'Thanks.'
The WDC moved gracefully out of the room gentely closing the door behind her.

*****

James entered the briefing room. Looking round for a seat he saw that it was already full. Moving along the back wall he found a spot and stood waiting for the briefing to begin.

'Good morning everyone.'
The room fell quiet and everyones attention diverted to the front where Sergeant Grant now stood.
'Lets get straight down to business. We received a phone call this morning from the Mayor saying his daughter did not come home from a night out last night. This is a recent picture of her.'
Something stured in James when he looked up and saw her face staring back at him.
'She was last seen leaving the Ibiza Night Club on Galdall Road at 2am this morning. Her friends say she left them at the doors as they went for taxis. She always walkes home across the park as he home is just on the other side. It will be Uniforms job to to a search of the park and the surrounding area. CID I want you to help with the Mayor.'
The room and the people in it seemed to blend into nothing as James stared at the picture trying to workout why it made him feel strange.
'...Dismissed'
The room emptied leaving James and Sergeant Grant alone.
'DC Sanderson, you OK?'
'What...' Said James shaking his head slightly before looking up. 'Oh sorry Sergeant.' he said as the sergeants face came into focus 'I'm fine, I think.' Getting up James left the room looking for any of his collegues. 'They must have all gone back to the CID room' he thought turning to head up the stairs in that direction.

'O there y are James.' came the unmistacable Irish voice of DS Lynch from across the room.
'Yeah sorry about that I just came over a little funny, not sure why. I'm probably just coming down with a cold I got up this morning and felt like I'd had no sleep when I had a good 8 hours'
'Probably, anyway lets get to work. James I want you and WDCJones to go and speak to the people working at the nightclub last night, you'll need to contact the clubs owners to get a list of employees and find out who they use for door men.'
'James' Came the voice of the young WDC from earlier. 'I've contacted the nightclubs manager who is going to meet us there in 30 minutes.'
'Give me 5 minutes, I've just got to do one thing.'
James turned and headed for the DI's office. Knocking on the door he waited for an answer.
'Come in' Came the voice through the door.
James opened the door and entered.
'What can I do for you DC Sanderson?'
'Sir I'm having a few problems, should I know the escaped prisoner? I feel I should but I cannot place him.'
'He was brought in as a suspect in the last abduction of a young girl but we never found her.'
'O yeah the case DC Fox was working on.'
'That's right.'
'Do you think he may have something to do with this case Sir?'
'It is posible but we need to find out a bit more before we jump to conclusions. Do you think these memory problems are connected to your loss of consentration today, and do you think you are OK to work?'
They could be connected. I just want to get out there and help find the girl.'
'OK, if you have any problems get yourself checked out. I need all my men fit'
James acknoledged his DI, turned and left the office, heading back into the CID room.
'You ready James?' asked WDCJones'
'Yes Sara, you want to drive or do you want me to?' James asked
'I'll drive, you look like you need some rest.' Replied WDC Jones
'Thanks I still feel a little funny.' Replied James
They turned and headed for the lift and the car park.
