The Perfect Love



I've read so many love poems
about finding my "soul mate"
as if it was predestined
by the fickle hand of fate.

If you're looking for true love -
one that will never fail -
may I suggest a cold nose
and a wagging tail?

She's always glad to see you
and listens when you talk
and helps you stay in shape
when you take her for a walk.

She's always sympathetic
when you've had a hard day
but she'll be the first in line
if you decide you want to play.

She'll never say that you're too fat
or that your butt's too wide
and in any argument
she'll always take your side.

She'll listen to your bad jokes,
even think that you are clever.
She'll never stare into your eyes
and drolly say "Whatever..."

She's always up for kissing
and she won't steal the covers.
She'll protect when you need it
and scrutinize your lovers.

My final word on this
to make the list complete -
She'll never once complain
if you leave up the toilet seat!
