Identifying symbols: In human form, Juli has silver-tipped nails on perfectly manicured hands, always wears silver sandals, and a silver headband that dips in the front to frame a jewel that rests in the middle of her forehead. The jewel acts in a similar manner as her horn, so she is able to use it to heal, and to speak to her family no matter how far away they are. These conversations are felt rather than heard, so overhearing her “talking to herself” is unlikely, but there are times when she will speak out loud to them. In natural form, her horseshoes are pure silver and her horn is an iridescent ivory that shimmers in the slightest of light.

History: Juli deals with her perceived abandonment by her mother. A great magic rules over their herd, requiring all mares to accompany a quest of other creatures and assist in their predicaments. Whether they need healing or battle assistance, the mare must be equal to the task. Juli’s mother had attempted to fight the deep magic, refusing to abandon her family for a foolish quest. When the age came and she had not fulfilled the requirements, she began to lose her gifts. Over the course of Juli’s teen years, her mother dwindled to a mere horse, and then died.

Power: Upon her marriage to Auric several years after her mother’s death, Juli inherited a shape-shifting ability whereby she can portray herself as human. She is, however, most comfortable in her natural form, and so shifts back to bathe and sleep. She is also most powerful in natural form, since her prominent horn doubles as a lance that she can use to defend herself against direct blows. She has never used it in such a manner. She also possesses the natural healing power of the unicorn, which, until recently, she has only used on the cuts and scrapes of her growing foals.
