My Heart’s in Pieces

My heart has kept me sane.
I’ve never been able to abstain.
A piece of my heart goes a long way,
To sustain my positive attitude each day!

Over the years I’ve shared my heart freely,
With many a maid and friend I loved dearly.
Disappointed by both many times.
Couldn’t describe my feelings thru poetry rhymes.

Ladies have loved me and left.
My heart they did theft.
Broken and saddened by my luck,
My life seemed to run amok.

Time has changed for the better.
My life was never meant to fetter.
Always on the look for love,
I needed a partner’s fit like a glove.

I found that being to mend the pieces.
One whose love never ceases.
A short courtship did prevail.
I found that soul mate that I did avail.

Some fifteen years we’ve shared.
Our love’s been true, unimpaired.
Looking back t was worth the trials.
Our life has been filled with smiles.
A piece of my heart always remembers.
Once my life seemed but embers.
Now each day I awake with pleasure.
I have my companion, what a treasure!
