The darkness surrounds me,
Envelopes me, consumes me. I feel its cool touch against my face, and I am comforted. Staring into this vast abyss, into the far-reaching depths, The ever-churning sea that is my mind Now is soothed. It is peaceful and honest, this darkness, An old friend waiting to lift the worries from my shoulders, A forgotten lover to hold me close, to protect me. Non-assuming, non-judgmental, without design, motive, or desire. It just is.
