Red Snow

Thickly falling snowflakes filled the air, muffling every sound except for the occasional crack! of a breaking tree limb, covering everything that didn't move and camouflaging that which did.

Ears pricked forward, the reddish shape approached the noise coming from beneath the snow.  With one spring, the search for dinner ended for mouse and fox.
