My first choice of poet for this third week of the contest was Christina Rosetti. I was inspired by her some of her spiritual topics and sought to capture her intense feelings through verse. I particularly liked The Thread of Life, especially the lines "I give, to Him Who gave Himself for me; Who gives Himself to me, and bids me sing A sweet new song of His redeemed set free; He bids me sing: O death, where is thy sting? And sing: O grave, where is thy victory? It inspired me to write the following: Simple obedience, dedicated and true; an act of reliance, our Father on You. We seek understanding of Your Holy Word; hope for our tomorrow, evidence unheard. We see the mystery of Your saving grace. We seek Your salvation, and, Your lovely face. For this faith comes from You that we might believe and increase in Your Word; blessings to receive. Our Father, through trust we believe that You can do all of the things You’ve promised to man. Saturated in Scripture, devoted to You. Separated from sin, Your will we shall do. For faith is in knowing that You are above watching and showing through Jesus, Your love.
