For my third entry for week 3, I chose Jean Valentine. I sought to devote this piece to a specific image in an effort to emulate Ms. Valentine's use of that style. I found her poetry to me seemed a bit fragmented. Although I read, and re-read the three offerings multiple times, I sought to find more of her work. I have read a few more of her pieces, as well as the ones that you have noted. I still cannot truthfully say that any of these "spoke" to me. The following is my attempt in a form with which I am not comfortable.
I toss and turn, no comfort to be found regardless of position. Lumps and bumps seem to form. They were not there before. Tortuous bed of nails! Thoughts won’t stay away. They tumble about in my head like a roller-coaster going up and down and over and under churning up other ideas. Unrelated mind noise screaming inside my head! No rest comes. Sleepless, endless iniquitous night! Finally, I seek precious, needed rest within the physician’s prescribed panacea. Revered remedy! Magic potion of peace!
