I was hoping someday to be your guy,
even though we didn't see eye to eye. You were the girl with the beautiful stem, with cherry-red cheeks you were quite a gem. My life was in darkness under the ground; it became brighter while you hung around. We had some differences, one or two, but our love was strong and our faults were few. Your skin color is red, while mine is brown, but you said that would never bring us down. I thought you'd be a faithful tomato, till I saw you with that red potato.
