I chose as my poet for the week, Emma Lazarus. I liked the flow of her poems and the messages she shared with her readers. The New Colossus should be familiar to all Americans! And, it was this poem that spoke to me as I read her works. The entire piece resonated with me and I read it several times attempting to emulate her style.
Gloriously, she flutters atop the slender pole. Blood has oft been shed so that she may continue flying each and every day. Nobility and freedom: her soul and her colors brandish loyal, true and brave. Our flag embodies all the very best; unfurled, she's never failed to pass a test. Brilliantly, her stars and stripes do wave, soaring above in both peace and in war with regal splendor against the breeze; proudly displayed in honor o'er the trees, may she fly forevermore.
