Contest entry for Works of the Month Contest, February, 2010, using Prompt # 3.
Use the following prompt to inspire a story, and use the line (bolded) somewhere in the story: ...and nobody objected.

There was a party at Jamie’s
Friday after school.
His mom and dad bought
beer and wine.
We thought that was cool!
Our parents didn’t mind.
These folks were quite respected.
The party was a big success,
and nobody objected.

Often between classes
a group will smoke a joint.
They passed it around to me,
and I didn’t disappoint.
I fit right in the “in-crowd”,
though it wasn’t what I expected.
We went to class as high as kites,
and nobody objected..

The counselor gives out condoms,
telling us to have “safe” sex.
She’ll even help girls get the pill.
What will they think of next!
You don’t need your folk’s permission
to go and get protected.
The same is true for STD’s!
And, nobody objected.

We hear of some school shootings
by students toting guns.
They take the lives of innocents
as their ideas of fun.
Though in the past there were red flags
that should have been detected.
They were allowed to stay in school
and, nobody objected.

The other day a friend of mine
brought a Bible to class.
He took it out at study hall.
The teacher said “What brass!”
The book was confiscated.
His suspension was effected.
He’s out of school for two whole weeks,
and, nobody objected.

We can no longer pray in schools
nor openly speak of Christ
They say it might offend someone
and "they" want to be nice.
Our morals have declined greatly
because we’ve all neglected
to stand up for what we believe.
Why have we not objected?
