"Tonight's the night, Justin. Everything is going great. Everything will go great." I thought to myself as I adjusted my suit jacket. I took a deep breath, looked at my watch, and knocked on the door.
"Justin. You're early. Come in. I bet you know where she is." Jess' mom rolled her eyes as she ushered me in. "Yea. I know. Its only five-thirty. This is why I told her our reservations are at six." "Oh?" she paused. "When are they?" "Seven. So she can take her grand old time." "I wouldn't say that." I laughed. "Well. We have a while. And its not like I haven't ever sat here waiting for her." "I'll go up and let her know you're here and find out if she'll be down sometime this century." As she walked up stairs, I went into the living room and sat on the couch. Two minutes later, mom came down stairs rolling her eyes and shaking her head. "You might as well take off your jacket and kick off your boots. You'll be here a while." she said as she walked past and into the kitchen. "Is she even out of the shower yet?" I asked as I kicked off my boots and stood up. "Surprisingly, yes. She's taring through her closet looking for something to wear." I walked into the kitchen where Jess' mom was unloading the dishwasher. "Wow! I expected her to still be in the shower." I held out my hand and she handed me a pair of cups. After a moment or two, she stopped and looked me in the eye. I just want you to know that I believe you'll get the answer you're looking for tonight." I shook my head and continued to put the plates in the cabinet. "Don't jinx it." "I'm not superstitious." "I am!" I said laughing. "So don't jinx it."
