I'M NOT PERFECT

I never claimed to be perfect - that's pretty hard to do!
I have my set ways and opinions like most folks, it's true.
Still I try to do the best I can, no matter whatever I face
and it's a good thing that I am blessed with God's grace.

No, I am not perfect but with friends and family I do try,
for I know that someday I will have to look God in the eye!
I've lived a lot of years not caring what others were feeling,
some of my words and actions may have sent them reeling.

So it is that each night I try to look back upon the day
and if I've hurt anyone at all, it's for forgiveness that I pray.
I'm not perfect, can anyone really be as good as that?
It takes a loving God to guide me, show me where I'm at.

When my days are over and I am laid down to rest,
I hope that God will understand that I have done my best.
I think we all fall short of perfection even through we try
to do what's right and honest as each day passes by.

Don't worry about reaching perfection, do what you can
to live with dignity and compassion, make it your plan.
I never claimed to be perfect, it's pretty hard to do -
Live life as God intended, to thine own self be true!
