Stars
only on the darkest nights are the stars at their brightest

The light seems to have forsaken me
When will I ever feel the warmth,
The warmth of the sun again?
I cannot remember the last sunset.
The evening star had then appeared
Then total darkness took over.
And the cold creeps in.
As the last bit of sunlight was devoured
In the darkness,
Which came without a warning
I see the stars. Many of them.
Sparkling brightly up there
On the endless velvet sky.
How long have I lived in darkness?
I don’t know. But as I wait,
Wait for the sunrise,
I lie supine and look up.
I gaze at the stars up high,
Up high in the heavens.
And I count, count…
