Contest Entry from Picture Prompt

A short story in poetic form........

A lovely autumn’s evening.
Its leaves still clinging bright
To tree limbs in the forest
Will soon tremble in the night.

Dark storm clouds are a-brewin’!
They are angry in the sky.
The winds now calm are coming;
warning a fierce squall is nigh.

The peace will quickly vanish,
as the thunder starts to roll,
and lightning begins flashing
as the tempest gains control.

A rainstorm's in the making.
Its fragrance is in the air.
Our lovely autumn evening
may soon end in despair.

The weatherman says, “Danger
will be coming this dark eve.”
He says to seek safe shelter
so we all prepare to leave.

We go into the basement
before the time's too late
for a tornado’s coming
and we shall await our fate.
