He Went And Brought Me Better Days

He Went And Brought Me Better Days

Too many bills, too little cash
so out the door I dash.
Tax man's made it very clear
"You'd better hurry up my dear".

When I said prayers of thanks today
Well, Who could have guessed,
The repo man towed my car away,
before I had time to get dressed.

Looks like it ain't coming back,
and that's just a sorry fact,
but He'll bring better cars and better days,
and He can count my hairs on that.

When my back-stabbing neighbor,
talks against me outside school,
God sees the little player hater,
but God ain't nobody's fool.

God says, "vengeance is mine,
leave that stubborn fool alone.
Soon he'll fall hard on his behind,
till he calls on me, he's on his own."

So I may be crying in my nightgown,
maybe I'm sick and dog tired today,
But God protects His precious children,
and better days are on their way.

I'm just chillin' in my heatless house,
my furnace is broken don't ya know,
but the Holy Ghost is sending fire,
and blessings will be falling here below.

What a great, good God we have,
he sees this sparrow in her needs,
but he's got healing in His hands,
and inside my heart it's 200 degrees.

There's little food left in the kitchen,
and funds are coming in real slow,
But the devil isn't going to win,
and blessings are gonna overflow.

I'm breakin' it down King James style,
for those who haven't read the book,
"we suffer only for a little while",
then the devil's goose is cooked.

I'm still praying, devil hear me saying,
"God is great and God is good",
Thanks for "helping" me build my faith,
Now get goin' back to your lousy hood.

Praise the Lord, I'm thankin' Jesus,
for answering all my prayers,
my house is warm, my belly's full,
thanks to one who always cares.

Now it truly can be said,
His ways are higher than our ways,
He knows all the hairs on my head,
and I just have to give him praise.

When I thought I'd wind up dead,
I cried to God with my arms raised,
God is great and God is good,
He went and brought me better days.
