Moonlight and You

The moonlight brings back thoughts of you,
Our love was tender then and so very new.
Our dreams alone made a difference then,
Nothing mattered more than loving again.

How could your love vanish without a tear
of regret, but you made it so very clear
when you walked away, not looking back
and the night turned cold and very black.

My thoughts often turn to nights of bliss
and how true love could ever end like this.
I remembered when the moonlight shown
upon two lovers in a much happier home.

Years have passed us by but still I mourn,
the loss of you leaving this old heart torn.
Forgotten pages in the book of life, its true
that I hold memories of moonlight and you.
