Rebel Without a Cause
By Cindy Lee Every day there are anywhere from 250,000-300,000 people in the world who die. This is according to WikiAnswers. Out of that massive amount of death, we only really think about it when it hits home to us and someone we know dies. Today, an icon in the martial arts community passed. He might not have been well-known to many, but to a small number he will be sorely missed. I’ve not had to deal with a death, recently, so this got me to thinking about my purpose for being here. For many years I floated through life without a purpose. I always believed in God, but I never acted like I believed. I was saved and baptized as a young person, but all through my younger days I never lived the life of a saved person. I went about in a destructive manner and was miserable and made those around me miserable because they had to watch me self-destruct. It wasn’t until I reached the age of 40 that I got a grip on things. By this time I had left quite a path of destruction in my wake. For those of you who are unsure about the Bible…take it from someone who has been around the block….it’s words are true. When the Bible talks about seed, time and harvest, you’d better believe everything you are sewing in your life will eventually grow up and come to fruitation. The Bible compares our lives to growing things in a garden, in my opinion, because it’s fairly easy to understand. Just so you know what I mean, seed, time, and harvest refers to what you do in your life. The analogy of seed and the things we do in our lives holds true. For example, I went through life being selfish for many years. Being selfish is what is referred to as my seed. The time it takes for that seed to mature is the time process. I went through many years of being selfish without consequences and that was my time process. The seed of selfishness I planted was growing. After several years of my own selfishness, my children came along and grew up…..and now I have a child who is just as selfish as I was….which is my harvest for that event. Now, I get to watch him, which is heartbreaking. I believe this cycle can be broken, though….through prayer and faith. That’s just one example of seed, time and harvest. My advice to any who have ears to hear……when you’re young, live life with a purpose. Find out what God’s purpose for you is. You can do this by learning about God and getting to know Him. He has a very generous nature and He wants to bless us….but we hardly ever choose to accept His blessings very well because we want to go the way of the world…which is destruction. Do yourself a favor and rebel against the world. You’ll be glad you did.
