Contest Rules Thank you for taking the time to consider entering a submission into the 2010 edition of March Madness!. This contest is sponsored by the "Reviewing Reviewers" There aren't many rules, but they must be followed. If you have any questions, please post your questions here and we will respond to you as quickly as possible. This is a juried contest. All decisions by our judges are final. Disqualification for rules violation is, unfortunately, unappealable. All entries in this contest must qualify as no higher rating than +18. Ratings for submitted entries must meet the ratings requirements for entries. Please review the rating requirements prior to submissions here Multiple submissions are permitted for this contest by the same author, but only under certain conditions. Contestants may enter more than one category, and may win in more than one category, but only with one original entry winner per category. In other words, if you wish to enter more than one category, you must create original work for each category. Each submission must be entered into one category only. Each entry may win only one prize per category, with the exception of the Grand Prize Winner, which may be awarded to any submission in the contest. Submissions will be open from 0001 on Wednesday, March 17th, 2010. Submissions will be closed at2359 on March 31st, 2010. (All times are WDC time (GMT-5, Eastern Time-USA). Entries will be via bitem link ONLY, and posted as a post in this forum. If you are not sure how to use the {bitem:xxxxxxx} format, you can find an excellent example and instructions here The category of your submission must be in the Subject of your post. #1, #3D, etc. is fine. Just make sure you have it correctly identified prior to the judging of the submissions. Submissions may be edited by the author once submitted, until the submission deadline. NO submission editing will be permitted once the submission deadline has passed, or that submission will be disqualified from the contest. Unfortunately, there can be no allowance on this rule for appeal. (Once the work is done, you must let it stand on it's own merits! Judging forms will be submitted to the Contest Leader Budroe is Blessed! Membership Reviews: 50% of total score based upon public reviews scoring system (0-5 stars) .(Prior to submission deadline) This is an accumulated average score: Total number of submission Public Reviews points (Total number of stars received for the submission prior to deadline) x 10% for a maximum of 50 points total. This means that every public review will have a significant effect on the outcome score for that particular submitted work. The more members of "Reviewing Reviewers" Judges Evaluations: 50% of total score based on a 0-100 numeric result (total numeric score / 2 for a maximum of 50 points Total submission score for the contest: (1-x) points as provided both by our membership and our judges. Example: Submission X receives 10 public reviews from RR members and other WDC members. Total stars=44. Average score = 44/10, or 4.4. This will become the "Review Factor" for the final submission Score. Submission X receives three Judges scores: 88, 91, and 89 (268 Total) x 10%= 26.8 FINAL SUBMISSION SCORE: 26.8 X 4.4 = 1,179.2 Highest Score wins. This insures maximum exposure for submitted work, maximum participation by both our members and our judges. We believe this will give the most accurate possible evaluation of your work. (It's really simpler than it sounds, but Fergus got his fingers into the pot...what can I say? He's a Leprechaun, after all. It's in his nature.) All entries (except Options B, D) are to be not less than 2,000 or more than 2,500 words. Entries that have +/- 10% of the required Word Count total may be, at the Judges' discretion, evaluated or disqualified from the contest. Judges may accept overages or underages IF, in their determination, the quality of the work is not diminished as a result of the word count. It is, in the final analysis, your writing quality which will most impress our panel, not your ability to add words. Deductions for missing the Word Count requirements may be given, at the judges' discretion. Entries must be original writing for this contest, and may not have received awards of any kind prior to their submission to this contest. Submissions will be evaluated on a "Publication Ready" basis. Please keep this in mind, as some of our judging panel actually are publishers and editors. The only exception is that we will not be requiring manual format submission requirements. However, proper formatting within the entry is expected, as well as other "usual" publication ready expectations are to be followed.
