Each leprechaun has a pot of gold.
If he is caught it’s been foretold
that this treasure he must award
to his captor as a reward.
So I set out to build a trap;
a simple green box with a door to snap
shut when the wee one took the bait.
No escape! It would be too late!
I placed four shiny coins in the lair,
but all I caught was cool thin air.
They’re crafty souls, these wee men,
and have got away time and again
from many lads who thought themselves wise,
and vowed they’d have the golden prize.

I guess I’ll just have to find the end of the rainbow!
