Regarding the letter, “Letter about census a waste of tax dollars”.
First, they send out “pre-notices” so when the actual census arrives we won’t just stack it with the junk mail. Second, how much money has been spent year to date on the wars of Iraq and Afghanistan? How many billions of dollars has been poured into campaigning for Healthcare Reform? How many more trillions has been given through various outlets over the last two years to stabilize our economy? Finally, how many more billions go to pork spending for politically connected businesses that want to build something as ridiculous as a $500,000.00 dog park? To complain about a few million in envelope and shipping costs is, frankly, a fallacy. Lets worry about the millions of Americans without a job, the millions of homeowners broke and fighting foreclosure, and the thousands that are homeless because of our collapsed economy instead.
