Lonely Street Empty sidewalk, the falling rain and my broken heart remind me that I'm all alone. Seeing couples walk hand in hand 'most tears me apart. I have no friends or loved ones that I can call my own. I left home with dreams but only found defeat. My one remaining choice is to retreat to Lonely Street. Jungle music and wild applause led me down the stair into a dingy, dim lit bar. From the haze appeared a goddess, I tried not to stare. With her beauty and her grace she looked just like a star. Clad in leather and lace she was so petite. My feet beguiled by the heavy beat, on Lonely Street. I was entranced, enraptured by her allure and style. She took my hand and led the way. I trailed behind her shapely curves and angelic smile. Memories interrupted as in dreams far away, forgetting deadlines and commitments to meet. Sanctuary warmed by her body heat on Lonely Street. To a private room I was led where she danced for me. She teased until I begged for more. Stress was gone, I suddenly felt enlightened and free. Anxiously waiting like a kid in a candy store. Coyly she turned and said, "You're in for a treat." Her body swayed, a veil floated to her dancing feet on Lonely Street. There are no words to describe her, she was like a dream, ethereal, not of this world. I sat transfixed under her spell. In her eye a gleam as she gestured and her body twirled, in pirouette and arabesque, she looked so sweet. My dreary life seemed bearable sitting in this seat on Lonely Street. This enchantment and entrancement lasted through the night, Life looked brighter than it had before. Caressing my face, my ego 'till my head felt light, she made me feel like a man once more. She whispered and softly moaned to the sultry beat. My breathing grew heavy as I felt the mounting heat on Lonely Street. All the magic and all the dreams end when they say, "Last call". Spell was broken, I said goodbye. "Come back and see me," she winked, "I should be back next fall." I said I would as I paid her and straightened my tie. She kissed me softly and walked me to the cold, wind and sleet. Her memory kept me warm as I trudged with heavy feet down Lonely Street. . Notes: These are song lyrics to accompany music similar to that of Bob Seger's "Mainstreet", thus the strange verse and rhyming pattern. It's just not the same without the fabulous Alto Reed wailing on his saxophone. "Lonely Street" expresses the feelings of a lonely man who attends a strip club. He goes to the club to converse, to interact with somebody, anybody, even if he must pay for it. Listen to Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVxsd6yywX8
