Wings
A multi-verse haiku about the beautiful birds in Australia.

Australian birds--
Flying flashes of colour
Brightening the sky.

Making my soul soar
Alongside flapping, gliding wings--
Senses overflow.

Singing retinas
Take in Technicolour hues--
Vivid reds and greens

Bright white cockatoos--
Pristine, angelic bodies
Topped by golden crests

Resembling mohawks--
Choir boys with rebellious side (?)
Preen nonchalantly.

Meanwhile, by the pond,
Evil ducks and waterfoul
Congregate below.

Cocky waterfoul
Outruns duck on long, lithe, legs.
Evil duck--perturbed.

For, he cannot fly,
Nor run, but only waddle--
I can empathize.

Grade six phys. ed class--
Smart, but unathletic kid,
Always chosen last.

Evil duck and I
I am reassured.
