THE HEART OF A FOOL

A robin's song awakens me in the dawn of an early morn,
touching the heart of a fool whose ears may simply scorn
the gift of life that God sends down for each of us to see
the blessings of His love for us throughout all of eternity.

The doe and fawn that wander out into the meadow there
will not be seen by eyes that are filled with tears and care.
A pity that some forget all of the little things, that as a rule,
are simply not appreciated in passing, by the heart of a fool.

Life offers us many blessings that we are too blind to see.
We take on the worries of the world and our own destiny.
We will sometimes fail to look up to see the stars at night
or watch the beautiful majesty of an eagle's solitary flight.

The heart of a fool will long for the peace that it cannot attain,
far too busy with making plans, regardless of the coming rain.
As darkness fills mind and soul, the miracles of life pass by
leaving unseen the good in our world, and such a fool am I.

Lord, open up my eyes that I might see and let my ears hear
the soft whispers of your love for me, let your meaning be clear.
If I fail to see your goodness, then it is forever lost I would be.
Let your light awaken my heart and set this troubled spirit free.

A prayer at night will make things right and I am truly blessed.
Thank God that He has made things right, bringing happiness.
No amount of treasure can match what He gives to us for free,
all we have to do is to thankfully accept peace and harmony.
