Dehydrated grass-- Blanched beige pallor of malaise Stares longingly up. Smirking summer sky-- Smarmy, beaming Cheshire Cat Teases Earth below. Sun still blazing strong, Burning, obliterating All other senses. Sun soon eats its words-- Ominous grey cloud enters As thunder rumbles. Commands audience, World watches in rapt silence-- "Heavenly" showdown (?) Sun runs for cover (Cowardice shows when challenged) Thunder has its day. Laughter emanates, Booming, crashing, cascading-- Cloud makes presence known. Mottled grey sky weeps Streaming tears of emotion-- Illuminated. Darkness is broken By fleeting flash of lightning, Clashing manically. Earth, revitalized, Drinks in the unfolding scene, Quenches crippling thirst. Grass perks up once more-- Rises from longtime sickbed, Poised to meet the world. Singing with colour, Passive yellow gives way to Vivid, strident green. (Schaudenfreude here? No, but look what happens when The underdog wins).
