THE FLIMFLAM MAN

The flimflam man,
Plied me with a scam,
Well dressed, handome too,
Polite was he, addressed me as Ma'am.

He wanted money for a cause,
Something about Santa Claus,
But his worldly ways made me pause,
I wasn't sure about his cause.

He then cajoled, almost pled,
Said his children must be fed,
Questions whirled within my head,
My temper snapped, my face was red.

My response was a definite no,
And I told him he'd best go.
He must have seen defiance in my eyes,
And decided I wasn't buying his lies.

He fled my doorstep,
And hastened down the street,
Knocked on my neighbor's door,
I guess, intent upon making a score.

That was not the last of this flimflam man,
The police received many a call that day,
Patrolled my street this and that way,
Nabbed the cheat and put him away.
