Fairy Tale
by Samantha Nichole Prince

Tell me.
Am I dreaming?
Or is that you who I see scheming.
Am I sleeping?
Or is that sorrow I see creeping
Into this lovely fairy tale.

Love me.
Is it real?
Or perhaps a much heavier ordeal.
Are you cheating?
Or am I treating
This as a fairy tale.

Kiss me.
Do you lie
When you say you hate to see me cry?
Can I trust you?
Or is it not remotely true
That you're my prince from a fairy tale.

Hold me.
Do your fingers tremble
Because of love or because of the evil you resemble?
Can you not meet my starry gaze
Because your noble heart is quite ablaze?
Do we or do we not live in a fairy tale?

Dream of me.
Is this a dream you'd like to dream?
Or would it wake you with a scream.
Close your eyes,
Imagine my painful cries
If you killed our fairy tale.

Tell me.
Love me.
Kiss me.
Hold me.
Dream of me.

Tell me.
What is it you truly feel?
Is your love for me still real?
Have you loved me all this time
Or do you simply enjoy to dine
Upon a young girl's yearning heart
Before her adulthood can even start.

Love me.
Do you love me for my face?
The hair that frames my cheeks like lace,
My rosy lips that taste your kiss,
And coffee eyes deep as an ocean abyss.
My gentle finger
Which often lingers
Upon your silky, golden hair?
I can't help but think you'll cause me much despair.

Kiss me.
How can one so very young
Have such a clever, flawless tongue?
Who taught you how to romance
A girl into a dazzled trance?
With everything so ideal
You simply can't be real.

Hold me.
Shakespeare said that love is blind.
I've kept that in my silly mind.
I try to think, I try to ponder.
But I can't seem to let my thoughts wander.
I believe that no one else can ever replace
Your soft, warm words and chivalrous grace.

Dream of me.
What do you see down our winding road?
How will we end this nagging episode
When there are obstacles to leap
And promises to keep?
I only wonder if you'll follow through
And show me that your heart is true.

Tell me.
Am I seeing what's not there?
Are we not the perfect pair?
Or are you my knight in shining armor
A considerate boy and quite a charmer?
Could it be... we're in a real-life fairy tale?
