The Teenager at the Cross
Lord, those nails, How they must have waled, Hammered through your skin, For my sin. Lord, the jolt, When the cross was dropped in its slot, I'm not surprised you screamed, It must have hurt a lot. Lord, you were dissed, Bad mouthing you had to bear, Adding to your misery, As you hung there. Lord, your compassion, To that repentant bloke, Even in your hardest time, Words of hope you spoke. Lord, your sorrow, As the time came to snuff it, Lord, your resolve, You knew you had to rough it. Lord, your goodbye, Could hardly be heard, But your Father heard it, He heard every word. Lord, your plan, That we couldn't see, Lord, your defeat, Turned to victory!
