MY FATHER, MY HERO
By : TSURTIDOGNI 050810 Excellence ! The word that my father instilled to all of us, his children. He strongly believe that in every person's heart there is always goodness and willingness of the spirit. In his childhood, being the youngest child of his parents 12 children, he was everyone's favorite and they all stated that he was the most behaved and most vocal of his feelings towards others, and he did it in such a way that he was always admired for what he said. In his younger years, he was the best single volleyball player of the whole town, and the master of the CHESS GAME, and still the Master up to this moment. He wins a lot of times in Swimming and in Basketball games that he entered, he was the one that was always being cheered. Like my father, my siblings, all six of them excelled in every sport they joined in , while I did not because I was never a sport person, I only love to watch them playing and winning, but I excelled in Literary/Musical field of Arts. Tall, dark, and handsome, my Papa wears the most beautiful smile. He told us too that in the event or situation that we will not be great then be useful in every way for your own good and mostly for the good of others. I was planning to visit him and my mother this morning but he came into our house alone with his usual most beautiful smile. He said to me " There's one Australian guy who wants to buy a piece of land that we own but I declined his offer no matter how big it was, because all the property that I own belongs to you my children, and as my gift to all of my grandchildren in the future." My very intelligent father divided his land to all of us his children, that was ten years ago. Our Papa and our Mama called us for a dinner meeting, and he was telling us to divide the land while they are still alive so as to assure everyone has a fair share. There are still three big lots in another village that he did not divide for all of us, but he said if the time comes that they will be gone, surely it will be divided equally to all of us. NO ONE QUESTIONED HIS WISDOM, WE THANKED HIM FOR OUR SHARE OF LAND that all of us his children are enjoying now. My father told me today " There are times in life that financial problem occurs, find a solution to solve such problem, but never ever sell the land that I gave you, that is what I am going to tell to your brothers and sisters when I will see all of you tonight." Then he asked for my guitar if he can use it while sitting at our front porch. My father sang two songs, "Besame Mucho and South of the Border Down Mexico Way ! " I listened to him as I prepared a cup of coffee and two slices of toast bread for him. I love his voice that's well-modulated and so clear. How I love to hear and watching him singing while strumming the guitar. After taking his coffee and eaten the toasted bread, he told me that he will see my brother who lives in the next house to mine. He said that " I expect all of you to be at our home at 7:00 P.M. for another dinner date with me and your mother. Your Mama is cooking the best family recipes. " Surely another wisdom will be shared and I look forward for Mama's chicken/pork adobo with plenty of sliced potatoes. My father once answered a question from his good friend, the town mayor whom my father invited in one of our family gatherings : "In the event that you and your children will be in a boat, and the boat is going to sink, who will you save first ?" Without batting an eyelash, he answered loudly, "It will be Naomi, why ? because of all my children she is the only one that did not excel in swimming, she can swim but she surely needs my help. " My brothers and my sisters were yelling "That proves that she is your favorite ! " My father cleverly replied " No ! Everyone of you is so close to my heart, from the oldest to the youngest, I love all of you, but Naomi, she did not excel in swimming but she excelled in so many things that's of her great interest, and I believe that I answer the question honestly with no intention of hurting each and everyone of your feelings, my children." The mayor was pleased with my father's answer, he patted the shoulder of our father, and we, his children surrounded our father to kiss him. My father, my hero, yesterday, today and forever !
