The Serpent's Mistress

Meow, a cat cuts through the silence
Aroo! A wolf howling in the distance
Tap, tap, tap. Do you feel her presence?
Here she comes, the mistress of violence!

Whip, wham, whack—the victim struggles to stand
Giggle. Giggle. She waits, amused and
wondering whether the man will withstand
or crumple under what she has planned…

Snap! With that signal, there goes a hiss.
With eyes wide—Thud!—he gives the ground a kiss.
The sleek, slender snake, without remiss
slithers, set to send him to the abyss.

Meow, meow, the cat purrs in delight.
Pitter-patter, she walks through the night.
