A tribute from a retired sailor to those Commanding Officers, Division Officers, Chief Petty Officers, and all the other leaders who won my loyalty.
Will I ever be led again? Will I ever be led in life again, Placing my whole self in another's hand; Pledging my loyalty in thick and thin Willing to die as we gallantly stand? Will I ever feel the deep bond again That comes from the birth of respect for one; On whose leadership I can ever pin My hopes and trust until the fight is done? Will I ever give one my all again And feel the thrill of all working as one; As we strangers become closer than kin And through our leader, unity is spun. When life gets tough and great troubles we see, I'll lead boldly, you can depend on me. -William
