In the Grand (Rhyme) Scheme of Things...

By Indelibleink

What puzzles me the most, when it comes to writing verse,
whether it be sad or funny, light or serious...
In a very short time, I become delirious,
So, in the grand scheme of things, just a root canal's worse!

Now, don't get me wrong, poetry can be a great joy,
for the poetic mountains we climb may be quite steep.
But there are also times when I can't take any more,
which leaves me mumbling, "I really don't give a (bleep)!"

I'm not trying to hose you; nor trying to be coy,
I am quite aware that - at times - my meter is poor.
Yet, I'll muddle on, and - yes - on occasion I'll curse,
trying with all my might not to become furious.

No, I will never give up, "quit" is not in this boy,
and with so many things in the world to worry us,
my writing has so many other aspects to nurse,
that calling this poem "important" would be a leap.

For, in the grand scheme of things, all it does is: annoy!
